The Apple Macbook Pro and the Dell XPS are the two leading brands of laptops that elicits much controversy on which is better. If you were able to get a free laptop, you’ll need to know which one of these will provide the best experience to the user.
The Apple Macbook Pro, an updated version of the Apple Macbook, has a 15” widescreen, LED type of monitor. There is an option for a glossy screen, in lieu of the matte finish. This is obviously up to you and your taste. The resolution, the best way to determine how clear the image is, is only available in 1440X900. For a free laptop, this is a great option to take on. The processor, 2.60 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, is lightning fast and provides ample speed for thevarious tasks you’ll need to do. It has a 4GB Dual Channel Ram, which allows for processing speed, as well. The Macbook Pro uses a NVIDIA 8600M GT 512 MB and an optional slot load DVD RW DL. This is very good for a free laptop. There are 2 USB, FIrewire 400, and Firewire 800. The express card only comes in 34mm. As for the Ethernet card, it only has one 10/100/1000 ethernet port. It also has a 1.3 MP Camp and microphone, a standard layout with backlit walls. If you’re looking for internet, the Macbook has WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n, usable for all types of WiFi. The battery will also last you about 3 hours. This is a very good choice for a free laptop, but let’s take a look at the Dell XPS.
The Dell XPS is also another great choice for a free laptop. It has a 15” widescreen, like the Macbook, but it is a CCFL instead of a LED. The resolution is 1689X1050, or 14440X900, or 1280X800. It weighs about 5.78 lbs and has a 2.6 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor like the Macbook. They’re both fast for free laptops. It also has the same RAM and video card. The Ethernet port only comes in 10/100, which is less that the Macbook.
Both of these laptops are top notch for a free laptop . You’ll need to choose which one fits your taste. If it’s free, what does it matter?
